Last MS Blues Marathon shot…

Posted in Music, photography with tags , on January 12, 2010 by Stacy Baugher

One last shot from the MS Blues Marathon this past weekend. I was not happy with a lot of the runner photos, becauase of the cold and how it affected my camera, but I was pretty happy with most all the photos from the entertainment tent.

Last image is of Lightnin’ Malcom, toward the end of their set. Can’t wait to try and see these guys perform again.

Cedric Burnside

Cerdic Burnside make one half of the duo that is Cedric Burnside and Lightnin’ Malcom, the Juke Joint Duo. His grandfather was blues legend R.L. Burnside.

I love shooting musicians, but drummers are usually the most fun. They tend to REALLY get into it, and Cedric Burnside is no exception. His facial expressions are great, and he puts a lot of feeling into his playing.

The Juke Joint Duo

Back in the entertainment tent, the duo of Lightnin’ Malcom and Cedric Burnside where still rocking. That tent was the warmest place I could find, and I love getting shots while listening to some expert players. There was this one lady who was just about fresh off the marathon, but that did not stop her from dancing along with all the music! Great musicians!

Lightnin’ Malcom @ the MS Blues Marathon 2010

The morning of the marathon, I was not able to get down there until about 4 hours into it. At that time, a great blues duo called Cedric Burnside and Lightnin’ Malcom had started their set in the entertainment tent by the starting/finish line. I got to hear some great blues and get some decent shots. I did have to do a little Photoshop on these, because it was so cold, my camera could barley handle it.

This is a close up of Lightnin’ Malcom’s guitar during a song. I got some more shot that are not close-ups, and they will be going up later. BTW, this shot was done as a JPG and RAW at the same time.
