This young lady was in the entertainment tent and had apparently just finished the race. She was so intent on her texting, I’m not sure if she even realized a band was playing. She just seemed so at peace.

You see a lot of emotion when you are at the finish line of a marathon. I saw people that looked like they where on such an adrenaline high that they might never come down and people that looked ready to just drop in tears. This lady caught my eye because as she came up over the hill and saw the finish line, a look of peace came over her. It was almost like she realized that she was almost done, and was just coming to realize it.

This lady was something. I don’t know who she is,or the story behind the whole thing, but I spotted her only a little over a block from the finish line. Originally just the gentleman in the camo was helping her, and at a few points seeming to hold her up. When she saw the police officer, she reached out and he gave her his hand and the threesome walked to the finish line. I really wish that I had caught the image of her reaching out to him, but my camera and the cold where having issues!

That took heart from everyone involved. It really would have brought tears to my eyes if the tear ducts had not already been frozen shut!
